The IncrEDIBLE Community PIcnic at the Blockhouse School Project Celebrates Local Seasonal Food
The Blockhouse School Project, with the support of the South Shore Social Ventures Coop and Select Nova Scotia, caps off a series of province-wide picnics with this community gathering Sunday, September 22nd from 1-4pm at the Blockhouse School, 63 School Road, Blockhouse, NS.
Well-known Slow Food Chefs Chris & Melissa Velden, (Flying Apron Cookery) and Matthew Krizan (Mateus Bistro, Mahone Bay) are generously donating their time along with other local contributors Meredith Bell (Ma Bell’s Country Condiments) and Peter Hardy (Ashwood Ridge Farm).
As a member of the Lunenburg/Queens County Local Food Team — The Blockhouse School Project community picnic is how we are celebrating Local Food Awareness Week, which runs from Sunday, September 15th (Open Farm Day) – Sunday, September 22nd.
Join us and share the harvest in a casual family-friendly buffet-style offering. Your participation will also help us raise money to take another step towards the creation of a community food hub and certified kitchen.
Select Nova Scotia says the goal of the Select Nova Scotia Picnics is to “create an authentic opportunity for Nova Scotians to learn about NS producers and enjoy delicious local foods in a social and convivial gathering.”
